Each month, Amazon adds a healthy dose of fresh content, providing viewers with a significant number of new and interesting things to watch. With so much new stuff, it can be hard to know what to watch without doing extensive research. Never fear, streaming enthusiasts and Amazon Fire TV owners: If you’re looking for the best of what’s new on Amazon Prime Video in February, we’re here to help.
February brings the premiere of Agatha Christie’s The ABC Murders, an Amazon Prime Original series that casts John Malkovich as famous detective Hercule Poirot in a mystery based on Agatha Christie’s book of the same name. This time around, Poirot is on the trail of a serial killer known only as “A.B.C.,” and the detective must use all of his deductive skills — and the help of some colleagues — to bring the murderer to justice.
Also arriving in February is the first season of Prime Original series Lorena, a four-part documentary from executive producer Jordan Peele (Get Out) that explores the notorious 1993 incident in which Lorena Bobbitt cut off her husband’s penis after years of abuse. The events leading up to the incident and its aftermath, as well as how these events set the stage for the modern 24-7 news cycle, are all explored in this series that takes a hard look at media sensationalism and abuse in American culture.
Amazon Prime Original movie Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot, based on award-winning cartoonist John Callahan’s autobiography, also arrives in February. The film features an all-star cast, with Joaquin Phoenix portraying the quadriplegic illustrator who gained international fame for his edgy cartoons. Jack Black, Jonah Hill, and Rooney Mara play supporting roles in the film.
There are also plenty of new and noteworthy movies and television series not produced in-house that will be available to Amazon Prime subscribers this upcoming month. Among the highlights are season 3 of the PBS crime drama The Tunnel, as well comedy classic Wayne’s World and The Matrix trilogy.
